Limerick five-piece Dylan Flynn and the Dead Poets have cemented their huge reputation among Irish alternative pop artists over the course of the last few years. Amassing over 400,000 Spotify streams and playing headline shows all over the country, they have long been touted as one of the country’s fastest growing bands.
They went some way to realising that potential with last week’s release of their debut album, ‘how are you feeling today?’.
The LP’s eleven tracks are accompanied by a spring tour and, in the space of twelve months, a second headline gig in Galway.
On March 25, Dylan Flynn and the Dead Poets play A Modern Movement in Seven’s Loft venue alongside Callum Wall, Road Safety Authority and All of Eden. Further tour dates will take Dylan and the band around Ireland and over to London in mid-April.
It represents a busy couple of months but, having spent so long preparing their record for public consumption, there is an appetite among the group for live shows.
“It feels weird,” Dylan says of finally having his debut album out in the world.
“We put everything into this over the last year and a half – it’s really consumed our lives so the fact I can look at it on my phone on YouTube or Spotify is a weird feeling. The reaction has been really good.
“We put out four singles but there are seven tracks that people have never heard before so getting the reactions on those new tracks and hearing people’s opinions on them is really nice.
