The 29th Croí Corrib Charity Cycle concluded with resounding success on Sunday week last as over 650 enthusiastic cyclists pedalled their way through the picturesque landscapes from Dangan through Connemara and finishing at Croí House, Newcastle.
This year’s event surpassed all expectations and, even more importantly, raised vital funds to support Croí’s lifesaving work.
The event involved participants from all walks of life coming together to support a common goal – improving cardiovascular health.
One of the highlights of this year’s charity cycle was the introduction of a new and exciting route, which showcased the beauty of the Connemara region.
Cyclists embarked on a memorable journey, cycling through the stunning countryside and picturesque towns and villages from Dangan through Moycullen, Spiddal, Rossaveal, Maam Cross, Oughterard and finishing at Croí House in Newcastle.
This year there were two route options to suit all abilities, the 107km route and a 47km route, both of which received a very positive response, according to Christine Flanagan, Croí’s Director of Fundraising.
She xpressed her deep appreciation for the overwhelming response and the impact this will have on the charity’s efforts.
“The 29th Croi Corrib Charity Cycle has exceeded all expectations, and we are incredibly grateful to all the participants, sponsors, and volunteers who made it possible,” she said.
“The funds raised through this event will go a long way in ensuring that Croí can continue to provide crucial cardiovascular services and support to those in need.
“Every donation counts and enables us to make a real difference in the lives of individuals and families affected by heart disease and stroke,” she added.
The funds raised will be utilised to advance Croí’s ongoing initiatives, including community education programs, support services such as Croí Connects, Croí’s phone and online support service, patient rehabilitation, and research activities focused on cardiovascular health and stroke supports.
