Nashville singer, songwriter and instrumentalist Shawn Camp will join his friend and musical colleague Jim Rooney in concert on Friday, November 14, at 8pm at Ballinderreen Community Centre, with Mick Daly and Brendan Butler from the Lee Valley String Band as the opening act,
Shawn has worked some of the US’s finest country artists, as a singer, a songwriter, session musician, band member and producer. Those who enlisted his services include Willie Nelson, Guy Clark, John Prine, Loretta Lynn, Garth Brooks, Merle Haggard, Emmylou Harris, Cowboy Jack Clement, John Carter Cash, Kris Kristofferson, and Jim Rooney.
As a bluegrass singer with the Grammy-winning Earls Of Leicester, he has twice won IBMA Male Vocalist of the Year. As a multi-instrumentalist sideman, he’s toured with Alan Jackson, Shelby Lynne, Trisha Yearwood and the Osborne Brothers, and played on countless Nashville sessions.
Shawn has also written various country hits, and, in 2023, was nominated for the NSAI Hall Of Fame He’s featured in the PBS American Masters series, co-writing with Loretta Lynn, has had two songs including the title track on a recent Willie Nelson studio album, and co-wrote a song cycle, including Magnolia Wind, with the late Guy Clark.
Shawn also won Grammys for Guy Clark’s last record and for a tribute album to him, both of which he co-produced.
Tickets for the show in Ballinderreen are €20, available at the door.
