Connemara North returns all four sitting Councillors

All four sitting councillors have been re-elected in Connemara North after the completion of the fourth count – the first Local Electoral Area in the country to fill all seats.

Cllr Eileen Mannion secured 112 transfers to reach the quota for the third seat, just shading Cllr Gerry King by 21 votes into fourth spot.

Their return means that the constituency has two Independents, one Fine Gael and one Fianna Fáil representative.

Oughterard has two councillors at County Hall – poll-topper Thomas Welby and Seamus Walsh, who ran for Independent Ireland.
