City medical devices company hopes to expand following product approval
Galway Bay fm newsroom – A Galway medical device company is hoping to grow its workforce with news that it has secured FDA clearance for a new product.
Crospon, based at Dangan in the city, has secured approval from the U.S Food and Drug Administration for its EsoFLIP Dilation catheter.
Crospon, which has a staff of ten, develops minimally invasive medical devices.
Speaking to Galway Bay fm News, Chief Executive of Crospon, John O’ Dea, says this clearance for their new product could mean expanding the workforce.

Request for more time to build sports facility at Inishbofin appealed to planning board

From Galway Bay FM newsroom- The county council’s refusal of an application for more time to develop a sports facility at Inishbofin has been appealed to An Bord Pleanála.
The plan led by Inishbofin Development Company C-L-G to request extra time for the project was refused by the council in April.
The development at Middlequarter involves a single storey sports facility to include dressing rooms, referee room, showers and toilets.
An Bord Pleanála is due to issue a decision in September.

From Galway Bay FM newsroom- Gaelscoil Dara in Renmore has been declared the winner of START, a national science competition
It challenges primary school children aged 8 to 12 to simulate their own trial and report on their findings.
The ‘Schools Teaching Awareness of Randomised Trials’ final took place yesterday at NUI Galway
Gaelscoil Dara’s winning entry asked the question ‘do children learn better from a teacher or from each other?’

Athenry’s Agricultural Show returns for first time since 2019

From Galway Bay FM newsroom- The Athenry Agricultural Show is returning tomorrow for the first time since 2019.
As with previous years, there will be a wide range of classes in categories such as showjumping, equine, sheep and dog showing, and baking.
Many categories will hold championships, and a range of qualifiers for other shows throughout the country will also be available.

Assistant show secretary and PRO, Mary O’Keeffe says everyone is excited to see the return of the event.
