Date Published: 12-Jan-2013

Renowned city tapas restaurant Cava has put its team of 28 staff on protective notice due to what the company cites as "lease issues".

The eatery which is located on Dominick Street is open for business and operating as normal as negotiations continue.

CAVA is owned and run by husband and wife team Jp McMahon and Drigin Gaffey.

In a statement published on the group’s website, the owners have cited issues regarding the lease as the determining factor for this action.

Owner JP McMahon says that in spite of the overwhelming popularity of the restaurant, they have been struggling with rent over the past number of years.

Negotiations regarding the lease are continuing and the owners are hopeful of reaching a solution.

Other restaurants owned by the couple under the company name Cava Ltd, the Michelin-starred Aniar and Eat @ Massimo are unaffected by this notice.
