Connacht Call Out, the third exhibition in the art summer season from The Oughterard Courthouse Arts Programme (OCAP) will launch this Friday, July 11 at 7pm.
Connacht Call Out is the result of a region-wide open call issued earlier this year to artists living and working across the province. The response was overwhelming, and OCAP is delighted to present 30 selected artists whose works span a vibrant range of mediums and styles — including painting, printmaking, photography, textiles, sculpture, mixed media, and digital art.
The exhibition offers a mix of traditional, abstract and contemporary subject matter, reflecting the creative diversity and energy of artists in the West.
They include; Antoinette Osojcaa, Aoife Dowd, Bernard Dooley, Breda Lowth-Kennedy, Carol Feeney, Dympna Heanue, Elaine Cunningham, Eleanor Brennan, Joan Finnegan, Geraldine O’Brien, Gerri O’Brien, Gill Christie, Isabelle Gaborit, Janet Mercer, Joan Kilfeather, John Connolly, Kathleen Furey, Louise Butler, Mary Doyle, Megan Mulcahy, Michael Mahon, Michael Paul Rainsford, Mike Roddy, Moya Roddy, Olivia Jones, Pat O’Connor, Paul James Kearney, Rosie McGurran, Teresa Mulholland and Tom Brennan.
The show will be opened by Breandan O’Scannaill from Clifden, who is involved in many community initiatives in Clifden and the broader Connemara area, including Clifden Community Council, Clifden Arts Festival, Connemara Tourism, the Clifden Writers Group. Clifden and Connemara Heritage Society, Connemara Garden Club and Connemara Community Radio.
The exhibition will run from this Friday evening to July 20 at the Oughterard Courthouse Gallery. Opening hours are Monday to Friday from 10am to 5pm and Sundays from 12pm to 5pm. Admission is free, and all are welcome.
