A new card payment report has highlighted that the West region is experiencing regional imbalance
The value of domestic credit and debit card payments in Galway reached three billion euro last year.
That’s up by almost ten percent on the previous year, with growth continuing at the start of this year.
However, the North Western Region in general only accounts for just under ten percent of the total value or domestic card payments in 2024.
The Northern and Western Regional Assembly says this highlights sizeable regional imbalances in Ireland.
