Calls for indoor recreational facility at Carnmore

Galway Bay fm newsroom – A county councillor says an indoor recreational facility should be developed on the Galway Airport site at Carnmore.
Ballinasloe Councillor Aidan Donohue says there’s a distinct lack of indoor facilities for children in the county.
A feasibility study is currently being undertaken at the 115 acre Carnmore site to determine it’s future use.
The Galway Airport site has recently been purchased by Galway City and County Councils.
Speaking on Galway Talks, Councillor Donohue says it would be the perfect location for a recreational facility for the entire county.

UHG chef named Aramark’s Healthcare Chef of the Year

Galway Bay FM Newsroom – Chef at University Hospital Galway, Pat Mills, has been named Aramark’s Healthcare Chef of the Year 2023.

This year’s contest saw seven talented chefs competing against each other to be crowned Aramark Healthcare Chef of the Year 2023.

The competition required the chefs to prepare, cook and present two portions of a main course dish in sixty minutes.

This year, 75% of the dish needed to be entirely plant-based, with a focus on Irish seasonal fruit and vegetables.

The winning dish, created by Pat, was vegan scallops with courgette and basil purée, confit tomato, and stuffed courgette with roasted aubergine and olive crumb.

Additional night-time water supply restrictions across a number of Galway supplies

Galway Bay FM Newsroom – Night-time water supply restrictions are being increased across a number of Galway supplies and will remain in place for the coming days

To help manage water levels in this dry spell, the restrictions will be in place nightly starting tonight, and will cover 11pm to 7am

The areas impacted include Tully, Letterfrack, Carna Kilkieran, Carraroe, Inis Oirr, Rosmuc, Ballinalsoe, Mid Galway and surrounding areas.

It can take two to three hours following low pressure for normal supply to be fully restored to all areas as water refills the network.

Meanwhile, residents and businesses in Letterfrack, Tully and surrounding areas and also the Mid Galway Public water Supply taking in Killimordaly, Kiltullagh and surrounding areas, are being advised that they will have no water from 10 tonight until 7 tomorrow morning

Uisce Eireann is asking communities across Galway to be mindful of their water usage as increased domestic and commercial demand is being exacerbated by the warm weather conditions.

Galway hospitals to hold info meeting in the city this week

Galway Bay Fm Newsroom – A free information meeting on stoma care is taking place in Galway city tomorrow evening

There will be information talks on diet and nutrition, health and wellbeing and improving quality of life for people living with a stoma.

People will also have the opportunity to speak to specialists from UHG and Portiuncula Hospital, along with storma patients who will share their experiences.

The free event entitled ‘A stoma in your life’ will take place in the Clayton Hotel Galway from 5 to 9pm tomorrow
