Brú Theatre back with Selvage as part of latest national tour Brú Theatre back with Selvage as part of latest national tour

Local company Brú Theatre will present the multi-disciplinary play Selvage by James Riordan, directed by Lara Campbell, next Thursday, November 10, at Druid’s Mick Lally Theatre, as part of an eight-venue countrywide tour

Selvage (which means to self-secure the first and last line of knitting), is “a dark yet joyous show about unravelling tightly wound modern anxieties”, according to the author, who is Brú Theatre’s artistic director – he also appears in the piece.

Selvage uses different forms of live performance, including puppetry, to tell the story of Joe, a young boy who suddenly finds himself alone after his beloved granny is imprisoned. He has to find his own way, dodging dangers along the way, all the time accompanied by his own anxiety which he must overcome so he can be reunited with his family.
