The footballing renaissance of Irish football star Robbie Brady had an unexpected bonus for Galway Hospice this week – after the international midfielder donated his £500 prize after his latest Man of the Match performance for his new club, Preston North End.
And while the team at Galway Hospice were delighted with their unexpected windfall, they are completely in the dark as to why they were chosen as the Dubliner’s charity of choice.
It’s a timely boost for Galway Hospice as they prepare for their annual major fundraiser, the 17th annual Galway Memorial Walk, which takes place on September 11 from the Claddagh to Salthill Prom and back.
Those who take part in the Galway Memorial Walk do so in remembrance of a family member, friend, neighbour or work colleague, with many participants wearing the name of their loved one on special personalised t-shirts, provided by the Hospice.
The closing date for participants requiring personalised t-shirts is this Friday, August 26 – and you can register online at www.galwayhospice.ie/walk or call 091-770868.
