Workers at one of Galway’s biggest employers have done more than their bit for their chosen charity – by raising more than €1.5 million since the scheme began
That’s why the employees of MedTech giant Boston Scientific are marking a collective milestone in their support for Galway Hospice, with contributions through the Galway Hospice Weekly Draw now exceeding €1.5 million.
Since 1997, many employees have chosen to participate in the Galway Hospice Weekly Draw by making voluntary payroll donations, reflecting a shared commitment to Galway Hospice’s mission of providing compassionate care to those facing life-limiting illnesses.
Galway Hospice delivers specialised medical care, emotional support, and comfort to patients and their families during some of life’s most challenging times.
“This milestone belongs to our employees who support Galway Hospice through their contributions, as well as the wider Galway community,” said James Lyons, Site Vice President of Operations at Boston Scientific Galway.
“We are deeply grateful for their generosity and proud that this initiative reflects Boston Scientific’s core values of caring, collaboration, and a winning spirit. Their decision to give back is a testament to the power of collective action in making a meaningful difference.”
Contributions from Boston Scientific employees have played a significant role in sustaining Galway Hospice’s ability to provide its vital services.
The funds raised ensure that families in the community can rely on the hospice’s care and support when they need it most.
As Boston Scientific celebrates this milestone, the company reaffirms its commitment to supporting initiatives that strengthen communities and reflect its belief in the power of teamwork and giving back.
The Hospice is dedicated to ensuring that people with a life limiting condition and their families have access to quality services at which they are the centre,” explained Galway Hospice Chief Executive Mary Nash.
“None of this would be possible without the support of organisations like Boston Scientific whose employees have been loyal supporters of the hospice since 1997.
“We look forward to continuing to work together with Boston Scientific and other local employers to continue to further develop palliative care services in Galway,” she added.
