More than €3 million worth of property sales were recorded at the latest O’Donnellan & Joyce Auction ‘Wild Atlantic Way’ auction.
The auction took place last Friday in the Harbour Hotel, Galway, and the auctioneers reported “tremendous interest” in properties located close to NUIG and University Hospital Galway.
Colm O’Donnellan said: “There was tremendous interest, particularly from investors locally and national for properties within close proximity to NUIG and UHG.”
Galway City sales dominated the day, and one of the highlights of the auction was 25 Greenfields in Newcastle, a semi-detached house of 1,320 sq ft close to NUIG and UHG.
It offers a large side entrance and rear garden and would make a beautiful family home. There is off-street parking to the front, with a wide side entrance and large mature rear garden. Although the property is in need of some refurbishment there is huge potential for the new owner. The bidding opened at the Advised Minimum Value (AMV) of €250,000, increasing in increments of €5,000, before the hammer came down at €360,000.
21 Lower Newcastle Road is a large semi-detached home benefiting from being positioned on a corner site. The property is presented in good condition with 1,265 sq ft of space, with off-street parking to the rear. Just a short stroll to Galway city centre, making 21 Lower Newcastle Road the ideal purchase for the buyer. Bidding opened at €390,000, after 10 bids the hammer fell on €430,000. The AMV was €400,000.
