An post postpone meeting on future of Caherlistrane post office services

Published

on

Galway Bay fm newsroom – Officials from An Post postponed a meeting in Caherlistrane last evening (Friday) regarding the future of the post office service in the village.
A delegation from the local community, including Mayor of County Galway, Mary Hoade and Galway East T.D Paul Connaughton were to attend.
But a member of the local organising committee says they were told on Wednesday night by Deputy Connaughton that An Post officials had to postpone the meeting until next Monday evening at 5p.m in Caherlistrane Community Centre.
A scaled back post office service had been operating out of the shop in Caherlistrane for the past 6 years.
That service was transferred to Headford last month when the shop in Caherlistrane closed.
However the shop in the village reopened yesterday and it’s hoped the post office services can also be returned if there is a positive outcome to the now rescheduled meeting on Monday.
