Amateur snappers invited to capture joys of the woods

AMATEUR photographers who enjoy a ramble in the woods have been invited to take part in the Teagasc Annual Forest Photo competition which opened last week, and which runs until December 13 next.

The competition is broken up into three different ‘theme periods’ – Forests for Nature, October 6 to October 28; Forests for People, October 29 to November 21; and Forests for Woods, November 22 to December 13.

Teagasc have teamed up with the Dept. of Agriculture and sponsors SPAR with the competition launched on Thursday, October 6 last – SPAR National Tree Day.

Entitled ‘Celebrating Our Shared National Vision for Trees, Woods and Forests’ the three-themed competition will focus on some of the many benefits of our trees and forests, as highlighted in the , recently launched by Minister of State, Senator Pippa Hackett.

According to the organisers, the competition provides a great opportunity for budding (non-professional) photographers and photo enthusiasts to get snapping while being in with a chance to win exciting prizes.
