Almost 120 staff have been physically assaulted at UHG in the past three years.

The figure was revealed at a meeting of the HSE Health Forum West this week, following a question by Councillor Shane Forde.

Regional managers confirmed that affected staff are offered free counseling sessions.

Fine Gael Councillor Forde says that proper security needs to be in place to prevent these attacks in the first place.
