30 percent of inbound visitors coming through Ireland West Airport Knock last year stayed in Galway city and county.
The figures were discussed as part of a presentation to county councillors by the Mayo facility at this week’s meeting of the local authority.
The data also showed that 23 percent of outbound passengers in 2012 were travelling from Galway.
The group is seeking a government investment of 75 million euro over five years in its bid to grow, create jobs and increase tourism in the west.
It says it’s concerned regarding the future national aviation policy in the country.
Cllr Sean Canney and Cllr Mary Hoade proposed motions in support of the facility at last evening’s meeting.
