15 million euro OPD at Merlin Park to open next week as appointments move from UHG

This article first appeared on Galway Bay FM

The new 15 million euro Outpatient Department will officially open at Merlin Park Hospital next week.

As a result, some services will be moved from UHG to Merlin Park from next Monday, February 10th.

The new OPD was opened by Taoiseach Micheal Martin last November.

From next Monday, some patients will have their outpatient clinic appointment in Merlin Park instead of University Hospital Galway.

Saolta says this will be clearly stated on their appointment letter or the text message they receive.

The new modern OPD will allow for the extension and expansion of services with enhanced facilities, which will improve the patient experience.

Some clinics will continue to remain at UHG such as Diabetes, Breast clinics, Paediatric, Maternity and some rapid access clinics.
