The sixth annual Galway Food Festival will take place over the Easter Bank Holiday Weekend, April 13-17.

The theme for this year’s Festival is ‘Food and Community’ and the organisation will host an information evening this Tuesday, January 31, at 6pm the Kitchen Café Galway City Museum

All interested restaurants, food outlets, food producers and suppliers to the Galway hospitality trade are invited to attend.

This year’s event will see the return of the Festival Village at Fish Market Square, along with an increased programme of food events on the theme of Food and Community.

Draft plans for 2017 include an extended food trail; the popular talks on food issues at the Mick Lally Theatre; the ‘Made in Galway – Food Theatre’ demonstration tent; and an expanded programme of food tours.  There will be lots of inhouse events, including pop-up restaurants, cocktail classes, wine and whiskey tastings, and a comprehensive schedule of talks on a range of topical issues in the food and drinks industry. Plans are also being made to host events at several surprise locations throughout Galway City and County.

An estimated 70,000 people attended the fifth Galway Food Festival last year, making it a major event in Galway’s annual calendar, according to the organisers. They are keen to build on Galway’s growing reputation as a food capital of the Wild Atlantic Way by having more food producers, suppliers and outlets from the Western seaboard taking part.

With this in mind, all restaurants, food producers, market vendors and suppliers interested in participating in the 2017 Galway Food Festival are invited along to this Tuesday’s meeting, which should be no more than an hour long.

Anyone who is interested but not able to attend, should email info@galwayfoodfestival.com as soon as possible. For further information and details of last year’s event and for regular updates about this year’s festival, visit www.galwayfoodfestival.com.
