Racecourse ruled out as short-term solution to Parkmore traffic crisis

Galway Bay fm newsroom – The IDA says it’s ruled out using Galway Racecourse as a park and ride for Parkmore for the time being.
The business organisation has taken the lead in a working group which aims to solve the ongoing traffic problems at Parkmore.
New proposals will be put forward in the coming days in a bid to deal with the issue.
Representatives of IDA Ireland met with the Parkmore Traffic Action Group yesterday to discuss possible solutions.
A working group, led by Catriona Blewitt of IDA Ireland, is now attempting to come up with a variety of initiatives which aim to help ease the gridlock at the industrial estate.
She says although the racecourse at Ballybrit is not a feasible short term solution, it may form part of a longer-term plan.
The Parkmore action group says the ongoing traffic problem is having a major impact on the quality of life of thousands of employees.
Spokesperson Pat Duane of Creganna, says there’s no quick-fix solution – but the working group is committed to finding ways to ease the congestion.
