Galway-based performer Orlaith Ní Chearra has benefited from an Arts Council bursary designed to foster artistic ties with Northern Ireland.
The Co-operation with Northern Ireland Scheme 2017 supported Orlaith in attending the Echo Echo Festival of Dance and Movement in Derry earlier this month.
Orlaith, who is now living in Salthill, has family roots in Ballinasloe and Oranmore and always had strong Galway ties.
She recently finished a nine-month tour of Europe as an actor-musician with the Emerald Isle Theatre Company. Having previously trained in Musical Theatre and Dance at London Studio Centre, she is delighted to be back working in Ireland. And she was thrilled with her debut trip to Derry.
“Getting to see Echo Echo in action was an absolute joy and having the privilege to work with Dutch artist Benno Voorham and Swiss dance company Junebug was wonderful,” she said of the experience.
