There’s been a great reaction to An Taibhdhearc Christmas show, Hans Christian agus a Chairde, an original musical drama based on the fairytales of Hans Christian Andersen.

The new production which was written by Mary Mc Carthy, a teacher in the City’s Gaelscoil Mhic Amhlaigh, focused on the work of the Danish writer whose classic include Thumbelina, The Emperor’s New Clothes, The Ugly Duckling and The Little Mermaid

Daithí O’Donnell played Hans and the production featured Irish dancers from the Hession School of Irish Dance as well as ballerinas from Youth Ballet West. Matthew Berrill from Headford was musical director of the show, which featured 30 young people from Galway City and County, who were directed by An Taibhdhearc’s artistic director Anne McCabe.
