Galway Bay fm newsroom – Minister Simon Harris is visiting the Aran Islands today to launch a new map and guide of Inis Mór.
The Minister of State with responsibility for the Office of Public Works will launch the guide at the Dun Aonghasa Visitor Centre at 12.30.
The booklet aims to promote the archaeological features of the island.
Meanwhile, a scheme introduced by the OPW in April, which allowed overnight visitors to visit Dun Aonghasa for free, is being hailed as a success.
The scheme is being continued this summer after almost 2400 visitors availed of the promotion since its launch.
Speaking to Galway Bay fm news on his way to Inis Mór, Minister Simon Harris says a number of initiatives have been put in place to boost tourism on the islands.
