Galway Bay fm newsroom – 30 new social housing units will be built in Tuam early next year.
County Councillors have given the green light to the Part 8 plans for the 30 new houses at Weir Road.
The homes will be a mix of bungalows and 2 storey houses, and will range in size from two to six bedrooms.
Tuam area councillors agree that the new estate will provide a welcome boost for Tuam – but say work must also get underway on making vacant units across the town available to tenants on the council’s housing waiting list.
Expressions of interest for the 30 new homes will be sought this week, and it’s hoped construction will begin early next year.
Construction is expected to take 12 months.
