Baboró International Arts Festival which runs from October 11 to 19 celebrates its 18th birthday with a host of Irish and international talent and four shows that celebrate memory.

One of these ‘memory pieces’ is from Scotland’s Shona Reppe, who returns to Galway with her latest show, The Curious Scrapbook of Josephine Bean, which offers a window into a secret world. This piece, which will be at An Taibhdhearc, won the Best Show for Children and Young People in the UK in 2012.

From Ireland’s Theatre Lovett comes Mr Foley, the Radio Operator about a man who forgets to remember and remembers to forget. It’s also at An Taibhdhearc.

Stories of a Yellow Town, from Galway’s Gombeen Theatre, at Nuns’ Island Theatre draws on the town of Gort for its stories, hearing about life from Brazilian immigrants and local Irish people.

Also from Ireland, The Musical Menagerie features two zookeepers reminiscing about their first days on the job. This show, from Your Man’s Puppets, is part of Baboró on Tour and will travel to Tuam’s Mall Theatre on October 16 and 17.
