November will be a hectic month for a 23 years old Galway model who will be taking part in two different international events which will be televised live to millions across the world.
Katherine Gannon from Rosscahill, outside Oughterard, who is the current Miss Ireland Galaxy, will be travelling to Fiji at the end of November to take part in the World Super Model Pageant, representing Ireland.
But before that she travels to Cancun in Mexico next week to take part in a US TV series called The Fashion Hero which revolves around changing the standards in the fashion world, issues like the height and size debate.
For that she was selected by the sunglasses brand, Charmant, to represent them in the show as one of 130 finalists chosen from 6,000 applicants worldwide.
She had already agreed to go to Mexico and then, a month ago, she was chosen as a wildcard by judges in Australia and the UK to travel to Fiji as an Irish representative to take part in the World Super Model Pageant.
“It will be a busy month for me. I leave for Mexico on November 5 and then I am back in Galway for just three days when I head off again on November 19 to Fiji.
“I am already training hard to get fit. I am also on a detoxing programme and eating much healthier,”
Katherine currently works as a hostess in Halo Nightclub in Galway City but has spent the past year working in psychology and counselling, having completed her Degree in Sociology and Psychology at NUI Galway.
She admits to being a bit nervous about the pageant, which involves bikini and dress and close-up rounds as well as a stage interview in a live broadcast to 20 million viewers all over the world.
But, she adds, she has done similar pageants before and will give it her best on the night during the two-hour show though there will be filming the previous day as well.
