The Spiegeltent has been erected in Eyre Square and the Vodafone Comedy Carnival, which kicked off this Wednesday, continues in Galway City until Monday with Reginald Hunter, Tommy Tiernan the Rubberbandits and Al Porter among the performers. Female comedians taking part include Deirdre O’Kane and Katy Brand.
UK comic Brand will perform her show, I was a Teenage Christian, this Saturday night at An Taibhdhearc, starting at 7pm. The show which was a hit at the Edinburgh Festival, is based on her years as a fundamentalist Christian, which began when she was 13.
Deirdre O’Kane will be in the Róisín Dubh on Sunday night, with Eleanor Tiernan, Katherine Lynch, Gearoid Farrelly and Chris Kent also taking part.
The London Writers Elective, a selection of comics from London will perform a series of outrageous sketches, monologues and routines upstairs in the Róisín this Friday at 6.15pm, with MC Wes Dalton.
The Spiegeltent will play host to Neil Delamere, Foil Arms and Hog, Totally Wired, Jarlath Regan and Danny O’Brien at 7pm while Al Porter will be there at 9pm. Earlier in the day, Paul Currie will be in the Ruby Room at the Kings Head. He’ll be in Ireland’s ‘smallest comedy club’ at The Dew Drop Inn at 9.30pm.
