Culture Night celebrates culture, creativity and the arts in Galway

Culture Night is the nation’s annual event that celebrates culture, creativity and the arts. It will take place on Friday 22nd September 2017, from 12.00pm and continues late into the night.  Dozens of entrancing, resonant and enjoyable events are taking place in a brilliant programme all over Galway City. As Galway hurtles towards European Capital of Culture in 2020 this year’s Culture Night looks set to be the most exciting ever.

And everything is free, brought to you with love from Galway.

Created to bring accessible chunks of the arts to all, Culture Night showcases all the exciting work being made in Galway. From environment and children’s theatre in Merlin Woods to vintage computer games in Dangan, from busking at the Spanish Arch to wire walking in Shantalla there’s something here for everyone!

Would you like to learn traditional French card games, or hang out with the Claddagh boatmen? Or visit exhibitions throughout the city, or hear traditional Irish, Breton or Spanish music, or check out the latest in Galway film-making, or dance, or learn how to play the harmonica, or make a fine art print, or discover permaculture?

Many of Galway’s finest artists are live and free: Con Tempo Quartet, Mary Coughlan, Mike McCormack, Alan McMonagle, Margaretta Darcy, Steve Bennett, Back West and many more.

Featuring philosophy and Russian poetry, historic walks and talks, Polish dance, famous buildings, sound installations, music making for children, comedy, science and food there are loads to see and do.

Check out the Culture Night website and the brochures and prepare for a big night out on Friday 22nd!
