COPE Galway calls for immediate increase in rent supplement limits

Galway Bay fm newsroom – COPE Galway says rent supplement limits need to be increased immediately to help free up emergency accommodation and refuge services across the city and county.
The organisation says it has women staying in its emergency domestic violence refuge for over a year, due to a lack of rental accommodation across Galway.
Last year, COPE Galway was forced to turn away 288 women with 405 children due to a lack of space.
Speaking to Ollie Turner, COPE Galway spokesperson Wendy Heuston says rent supplement limits need to be increased as a matter of urgency.
