THE great Cheltenham National Hunt racing festival draws near and once again Flynn’s Bar in Lackagh hosts a special preview night to raise money for Galway Hospice on Saturday, March 10, at 9pm.

This year all eyes will be on the Pat Kelly trained Presenting Percy and jockey Davy Russell. The preview will be hosted by 1980 Galway hurling captain Joe Connolly, who will be joined by former Galway Bay FM tipster Jarlath McDonagh.

Other racing personalities set to attend include trainers Val O’Brien, Yvonne Dunleavy, Steve Mahon, Kevin McDonagh and Martin Cullinane. Cards with 20 tips will be available on the night for €5. All money raised goes to Galway Hospice.

Last year the tip cards provided 10 winners and on Saturday night, there will be more tips from the young maestro Joseph O’Brien, Davy Russell, Tom Lee of Channel 4, Gary O’Brien, At The Races, English trainer Ian Williams and top flat jockey Niall McCullagh.

Music on the night by Padraic Qualter and Mike Mulryan, refreshments by Treat Cafe. Special guest is Galway trainer Pat Kelly who savoured Cheltrenham glory with Mall Dini and Presenting Percy at the last two Cheltenham festivals respectively.
