CHAMBER OF COMMERCE SAYS WATER CRISIS NOT AFFECTING TOURISM

Head of Galway Chamber of Commerce Michael Coyle says the water crisis hasn’t dinted tourist numbers so far

His comments come in the wake of the City Council’s confirmation that the deadline of this Friday [june 15] for a clean water supply will not be met.

The delay is being blamed on the fact that the necessary supply from the Luimnagh water treatment plant near Headford will not be ready for another three weeks.

It means it could be late July or early August before the water in Galway city is drinkable.
