Chamber calls for greater spend on capital projects

Galway Chamber is calling on the Government to urgently reverse its trend of slashing capital spending over the past five years.
It follows the publication of the European Commission Country Specific Recommendations, which flags under-investment in Ireland’s economy as a concern.
Galway Chamber says that significant capital investment is required to support our growing population and expanding economy.
It says that capital programmes are badly needed in areas including housing, transport and water infrastructure.
President of the Chamber Conor O’ Dowd says that the Government is putting future growth at risk and needs to immediately review their priorities.
