68 thousand euro worth of drugs seized in city in first 3 months of the year

Galway Bay fm newsroom – The incidence of drugs for sale or supply in the city has dropped by 5 per cent in the first three months of the year.
According to the latest garda statistics there were 34 incident of drugs being discovered for sale or supply between January and March, that’s down 5 and a half per cent.
Meanwhile, incidents of the simple possession of drugs in the city have dropped by 42 per cent.
The largest seizure of drugs in the city in the first quarter of the year was almost 50 thousand euro worth of cannabis.
Other drugs seized were 14 thousand euro worth of ecstacy and almost 4 thousand euro worth of heroin.
Superintendent Marie Skehill from Galway Garda Station says heroin has become more prevalent in Galway.
