500 homes in the city are to be fast-tracked as part of the government’s Rebuilding Ireland Initiative.
Minister of State and Galway West / South Mayo T.D, Seán Kyne says the proposed development of Ardaun on the east side of the city is included in Pillar Three of the initiative, launched today.
Pillar Three concentrates on major urban development sites that are in good locations and close to infrastructure and centres of employment.
Housing Minister, Simon Coveney, has also announced changes to the planning system to speed up the process and reduce building costs.
Minister Kyne says the 500 new homes planned for Ardaun are subject to progress on the Local Area Plan.
