4,000 expected for Connemarathon

UP TO 4000 runners, joggers and walkers from 40 countries are expected to line out for this year’s Fáilte Ireland Connemara International Marathon which takes place on April 6.

Two weeks into the New Year and the newly re-launched ‘Connemarathon’ website www.connemarathon.com has seen a phenomenal 36,000 page views.

Over 2500 entrants have already entered via the online entry system for what is the largest athletics event ever to take place in the west of Ireland. Based on current entry trend the organisers expect the race to sell out by the end of this week a full two months in advance of this unique race.

Race Director Ray O’Connor attributes the ongoing success of the marathon, now in its seventh year, to a combination of factors including the spectacular location of the marathon route, and the marathon runners who return year after year to participate in the event.
